In this exercise, the forensic science students recreated a courtroom to engage in a mock trial and reach a verdict. They divided into prosecution and defense teams, the students presented their arguments and examined the evidence. The staff of the NSLC Forensic’s Program portrayed the roles of attorneys and judges, while the students were the witnesses and juror’s used critical thinking to try and solve the cases. The simulation was a test to see how they’d apply their knowledge of what they learned in the program and apply it to real-life scenarios in terms of legal processes. Though, the students reached a verdict, they had a great time understanding the logistics behind a real courtroom.
