Psychology & Neuroscience students embarked on their first field trip today to the Food & Drug Administration headquarters! They had the opportunity to hear from a series of scientists, including a pharmacologist, the Branch Chief for the Center of Tobacco Products, and a few personnel psychologists at the Center of Veterinary Medicine. They all spoke about their education, career journey, and what they do now as part of the FDA, focusing on the role and importance of social scientists. Students asked each speaker riveting questions about the process of drug marketing, manufacturing, and research. Future opportunities, including student internships and volunteer work, were mentioned as well, and the speakers expressed their hope and enthusiasm to see these same students down the line working with them here at the FDA!
