Growing up in Virginia, Laura Jackson always knew she wanted to write, but only discovered journalism when she was 12 years old.

“I realized writers don’t get paid unless they’re J.K. Rowling,” Laura said, “but then I discovered journalism, where you do get paid to write.”

Invited because of her high PSAT scores, Laura chose to come to NSLC because of the advice given by her family members. The soon to be junior also had friends that attended an NSLC program in the past. In the future, Laura would like to see herself interning at newspaper or magazine company.

“I will literally intern anywhere I can possibly go,” Laura stated, showing her determination to journalism.

The strong-minded student is willing to intern wherever possible but she would love to work at a top network program like ABC. She also wishes to one day become a journalist involved with science.
